Shimadzu has long been advancing the analytical performance of HPLC systems. At the same time, we recognize that overall efficiency depends not only on the performance of one instrument but on the management of all devices within a lab. This realization leads us to now, a time in which AI capabilities have been incorporated to allow devices to detect and resolve issues automatically. In addition, lab management has been integrated using the Internet of Things (IoT) and device networking, making it simple to review the status of instruments and optimize resource allocation.
Columns utilized in ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) must suppress intra-column dispersion, provide excellent chromatographic separation, and support high-speed, high-separation analysis. The Shimadzu Nexflow technology* for the Nexera system minimizes the extra-column dispersion, without changing the inner diameter or length of the piping in the UHPLC system.
Building upon 40 years of experience in LC technology, the Nexera series is a family of HPLC systems that marries these AI and IoT enhancements to set new industry standards.

The Newest Alternative to Animal Testing for Skin Sensitization
In recent years, there has been a growing movement to promote alternative methods to animal testing and the EU and a few other countries have even moved to ban the import and sale of cosmetics that have been tested on animals. The Amino acid Derivative Reactivity Assay (ADRA) Method developed by Fujifilm, is an innovative alternative test method for skin sensitization without the use of animals and it was adopted by the OECD in 2019 as a reliable test method. A revision of the Test Guideline (TG) was carried out in 2022, adding an evaluation for the sensitization potential of mixtures by the gravimetric approach and the ADRA-fluorescence method. In this webinar, we will present the technical background of the ADRA method, the use of reagent kits to perform ADRA testing, and our solutions for ADRA analysis that deliver both enhanced selectivity and high-speed testing.
